About Me

I am a nurse, integrative health practitioner, mother, daughter, sister, friend, truth seeker, dot connector and demystifier of health and science. My aim is to empower people to take control of their own physical, spiritual and higher self in order to achieve optimum wellness.

With more than 20 years of diverse, well-rounded experience in the fields of nursing, nutrition, clinical practice, research, writing, and education along with a personal journey, I began to offer nursing, nutritional and holistic services and launch the Jenius Concept in the crazy year of 2020.

My first passion, nursing

I wanted to be a nurse from the age of 3. I opted to watch programs on child birth or other health based adult programs, rather than cartoons. I had a deep intuitive desire to want to be a nurse. I consider myself lucky I always knew the path I wanted to take.

I worked in mainly Critical Care within the NHS, with my last role as a Critical Care Outreach Matron. I went through a massive growth in clinical knowledge and skills during this time. The role entailed reviewing acutely unwell patients in the ward areas, ensuring optimum, prompt care and access to ICU when needed.

It required sharp assessment skills, fast diagnosis and treatment along with team working. A stressful, but rewarding job. I felt privileged to care for people at their worst or most vulnerable. I was never bored, always felt challenged, and enjoyed every second of direct patient care.

Since I was 17 I was a carer. I may no longer work in a hospital as I did in my early nursing career, but I know one thing. I am designed to take care of others, human or animal it doesn’t matter. For that I am truly grateful.

Ethics

I never stopped studying or learning and during this time and decided to undertake a Masters in Medical Ethics and Law. I relished in the course and enjoyed debates about organ transplant, euthanasia, consent, research ethics and the law surrounding the often tricky subject of medicine and care.

I sat on a Resuscitation and Research Ethics Committee and patient care was the first priority, always. I was the youngest and only nurse there and learnt more during this time about life, brilliance and innovation.

Nothing is as simple as black and white where individuals and people are concerned. There is often no right or wrong answer and laws are not always clear cut.

It cemented my belief that we are all autonomous beings and to be in control of our own health and indeed life, we have to have information and be able to decide the best course of action for ourselves. This is even more important in the current climate in terms of informed consent for medical treatment.

We all have the right to consent or refuse treatment without discrimination. The ethos of the NHS was always for the health service to be “free at the point of care”. This doesn’t mean it should be free in monetary terms, but free as in open access for all, without discrimination or judgement.

Nutrition

I had a keen interest in nutrition from the time of High School, not that I ever really practiced what I learnt at that time. It wasn’t until I hit a problem with my own health, that I started to look at diet and exercise. I drowned myself in books on healing and nutrition and decided to take a courses to learn as much as I could, in order to be able to provide help and advice as part of my own clinical practice.

It really is not that complicated, and with small changes in diet can lead to big changes in health. Many chronic health conditions such as auto immune diseases, digestive issues, type 2 diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol can be managed with diet and medication may be avoided. It is a win win really, look after your body and your body will thank you for it.

My Natural Nutritional Diploma focused digestive health, microbiome, blood sugar control, genetics, environmental factors and micro/macro nutrient balance using whole foods and natural supplementation.

It made me realise that although the modern health service model has excellent and life saving work happening, it fails in looking at root cause and individual needs in terms of overall health and well being.

There is so much confusion out there about which diet is best and a lot of fads, essentially its fairly simple and does not have to be rocket science. My aim as a practitioner is to guide you through personally, or in general the information provided in the Jenius Concept will help you find your own way towards what works best for you.

Redox Signalling

During my quest for health on my personal journey, again I hit a wall in terms of consistency despite eating, exercising and doing all the right thing. There was not much I had not tried, in terms of supplements, tinctures, teas, juices, and herbal remedies etc, I was my own guinea pig.

Out of nowhere came a breakthrough when another fellow nurse who I had been communicating with introduced me to ASEA redox signalling molecules. It transformed my journey and now I am a proud associate.

ASEA redox signalling is a unique breakthrough patented technology supporting cellular function. For more information on these amazing molecules, please send me a contact form below or connect with my on my official ASEA page.

Integrative Health

I had been following different practitioners/ doctors and alternative therapists to try decide the path I wanted to go down. I came across Dr Stephen Cabral, founder of the Integrative Health Practitioners and found his videos and explanations so clear and well researched, I decided to complete his Level 1 IHP course.

Dr Cabral has spent decades researching and developing his practice and trained many professionals. The focus is the DESTRESS protocol, which covers diet, emotional balance, stress, toxins, exercise, supplements and success mindset. I have changed the S to be “spiritual balance” instead. It brought together everything I have learnt over my journey and how to put it into practice to help others.

I am registered as a Integrative Health Practitioner with the International Practitioner of Holistic Medicine as well as the Ordem Dos Enfermeiros in Portugal. In addition to this qualification I also completed courses in Spiritual Counselling, Reiki and Chakra Healing.

Everything compliments the other bringing together various areas of focus. Holistic healing is an art which combines any different modalities into one, with a key focus on equilibrium in mind, body and soul.

Ethos

I have been involved in teaching and mentoring fellow nurses all my career and strive for excellence in all areas of expertise. My passion is teaching and empowerment of a whole-self approach to nourishment, and bridging the gaps between science, spirituality, and art in medicine.

I thoroughly enjoy  unveiling hidden, lost of forgotten about research in alternative areas of health with sound, vibrational, frequency and light healing or being a medical detective and piecing together a jigsaw.

I am also incredibly lucky to have an excellent online and local network of complimentary practitioners, such as osteopaths, physiotherapists, sport professionals, astrologists, Reiki healers, colour therapists, tarot card readers, mediums,  functional medical doctors and beyond. They will be introduced regularly on the blog.
